Empowering Processes, Technology and Policy to Drive Change and Increase Value Through Procurement 4.0

Digital technology has the ability to transform the way business operates, delivers services to customers and accelrates the rate of national progress. Markets are changing faster than ever and companies are increasingly re-inventing themselves to keep pace with demand. The procurement function has shifted to work smarter – removing road blocks, increasing responsiveness and ensuring progress towards business critical objectives is essential.

Governments are driving performance improvement to optimise the time and efficeincy for government tenders. In the UAE, under the guidance of H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, the Ministry of Finance (MoF) UAE has launched the Department of Government Procurement platform which will reduce the tender review process from 60 days to 6 minutes via their digitally advanced platform. In Bahrain, the Tender Board is supporting digital platform initatives, SMEs engagement, policy and processes to drive improvement and to maximise efficiencies. In Saudi Arabia, the newly launched Government Tenders and Procurement Law strives to regulate procedures relating to government purchasing and procurement, thereby maximizing the utilization of public funds.

The World Bank ‘Doing Business 2020’ report is an indicator to demonstrate ease of business  operations, ease of business for entrepenurs and levels of corruption. Initatives to drive improvement in procurement support a higher rating in this ranking and reduce percieved investement risk.

The 4th Annual Procurement Middle East Conference taking place 14 – 16 April 2020, in Bahrain is supported by the Bahrain Tender Board. The theme for this eagerly awaited edition is empowering processes, technology and policy to drive change and increase value through procurement 4.0. The conference is under the patronage of H.E Shaikh Nayef bin Khalid Al Khalifa, Chairman of Bahrain Tender Board who will also host an exclusive series of invitation only round table procurement policy discussions with business leaders and solution providers at the event.

This platform is the only government endorsed procurement event in the GCC – the industry awards are an opportunity for procurement excellence, best practice and innovation to be shared. An industry dinner will be hosted by the Bahrain Tender Board to recognize achievement and to provide a moment to celebrate achievement.
